5 Amp Airpax Circuit Breakers

We have discovered a labelling problem with the 5A circuit breakers fitted in our panels. (Part number CBS-5A-SP).

This breaker is labelled incorrectly on the rear, as indicated in the attached photo. We have tested these breakers and they are 5A breakers but on the rear are indicated as 50A by the marking “I 50”.

All 50A small frame breakers we use are ignition protected, meaning they have a plastic cover fixed to each end (not very clear in the bottom photo), so it is possible to tell if a breaker indicated as 50 on the rear is actually 5A by the absence of these covers.

We have done a random check of our existing stock of other rated breakers, and found them to all be correct, but there is the chance that a 5A could have been fitted in place of a 50A. We would suggest that where practical, panels that you have purchased after 17.04.08, be checked.
